The Oktoberfest took place for the first time in 1810 on the occasion of the marriage of the future King Ludwig I to Princess Therese of Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Today it is the biggest social intoxication in the world with consumption records being recorded in million liters (beer) and in hundreds of thousands (chicken). On Friday and Saturday there is a veritable rush of masses of Oktoberfest lovers at the \"Wiesn\". The beer tents are usually closed late in the afternoon (Friday) or in the morning (Saturday) because of the crowds. If Oktoberfest in Munich is too far for you, the festival can also be held in Brandenburg, especially in Frankfurt-Oder on 23\/24. & 30th September, 1st & 2nd October 2016 on Brunnenplatz or in Berlin.<\/p>\n
