Are you a guest at one in September Hotel in Frankfurt-Oder? Then there are a few highlights waiting for you in this late summer month, where Frankfurt-Oder presents itself from its best side as a city of culture.
The “Short Night of the Museums” takes place on September 9th. Many institutions participate in this event. The Museum Night will be opened with music from the tower of the Marienkirche. There the tower is open all evening and visitors can also marvel at the art treasures of the church. In the Kleist Museum there is, among other things, an exhibition about the poet Heinrich von Kleist. In addition to a reading, there will also be a photo exhibition in the city library that evening. The Museum Viadrina is also about a "virtual cello" that visitors to the Museum Night can also play themselves. There is also painting and acting in the Museum Junge Kunst.
The play “Nipple Jesus” will also be performed there, which will premiere the day before. The Moderne Theater Oderland is staging the theater production by the well-known British author Nick Hornby in cooperation with the Museum Junge Kunst. The title may be irritating, but it is a story about art and communication with a lot of humour.
If you are in Frankfurt-Oder around September 17 and have always wanted to take a look behind the scenes of a theatre, you can do so at the open day in the Kleist Forum. You will find out which world is hidden behind the performance and how, for example, a stage design is created. The day will be rounded off with exhibitions, workshops and a children's program.
Those who are then curious about what is happening behind the scenes can also see the concert hall from a different angle the following day. Of course, there will also be music at the open day in the "Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach" concert hall. Among other things, there is a jazz concert and the concert of amateurs. There are also guided tours through the concert hall. There is also a concert by the hands-on orchestra, which this year is part of the so-called "Symphonic Mob".
Two days earlier, on September 16th, you can experience the Brandenburg State Orchestra in Frankfurt. Then the 1st Philharmonic Concert will take place in the large concert hall under the title "Russian Pictures". You will hear, among other things, a piano concerto by Peter I. Tchaikovsky and works by Modest Mussorgsky.
