The Märkische Schweiz nature park is just under 50 kilometers from Frankfurt-Oder. It was opened in 1990, i.e. shortly after the fall of the Wall, making it the oldest but also the smallest nature park in Brandenburg. But that doesn't make it any less worth seeing! The heraldic animal of the nature parks is a dragonfly, because the dragonfly is one of the many species that cavort in the Märkische Schweiz nature park. Around 252 bird species live here alone, such as the white-tailed eagle and the black stork. There is also plenty of habitat for beavers and otters. If you don't just want to go hiking or cycling in Märkische Schweiz, make a detour to Buckow, the main town in the region and the only recognized Kneipp spa in Brandenburg. However, the 25-kilometer hiking trail in the Märkische Schweiz nature park is particularly beautiful and has even been voted one of the ten most beautiful hiking routes in Germany in surveys. Therefore, many hikers and cyclists are drawn directly out into nature.

If you want to walk the circular route from Buckow in one go, you will need around six to seven hours. On a day tour through the Märkische Schweiz nature park, you will always find beautiful spots that invite you to take a short break. In addition, the path is well signposted everywhere.
