In the Görlitz Agreement of 1949, the GDR had accepted the border with Poland. From then on the border was called the German-Polish Peace Border. A stone slab with the following dedication to the Oder promenade has been moved from the old bell house: "Peace - on the occasion of the signing of the contract on the Oder-Neisse border.
