From October 6th to 16th, residents and guests in Frankfurt-Oder can again look forward to many cultural events as part of the Kleist Festival. Conferences, readings and film screenings in the Kleist Museum focus primarily on the relationship between Kleist and Shakespeare. For example, the 1952 film adaptation of Orson Welles' "Othello" will be shown at the end of the Kleist Festival.

In the Kleist Forum, on the other hand, there are concerts with music from different eras. The actor and musician Christian Redl will celebrate the premiere of his Francois Villon program there. Redl sings texts by the most important French poet of the late Middle Ages. The musician Jan Plewka, known from the rock band Selig, will also appear with his interpretation of Rio Reiser songs.

The “poet competition” is sure to be entertaining. Here Shakespeare, Kleist and Goethe face poetry slammers. The evening is appropriately named “Dead or Alive”. In the end, the audience decides who wins. Actually, the poetry slam itself is a poetry competition. Each participant recites self-written texts within a certain period of time.

There is something for everyone at the Kleist Festival. The program is designed in such a way that literature experts and academics can exchange ideas, but that "beginners" can also find entertaining access to theater and music.
