Music Days in Frankfurt-Oder 2016

Music Days in Frankfurt-Oder 2016

From March 3rd to 17th, the German-Polish festival "Musikfesttage an der Oder" will take place in Frankfurt an der Oder. The event has now become a tradition in the border town: the cultural program is taking place for the 51st time. This year the motto of the festival is "Contrasts". If you would like to visit the Music Days in Frankfurt-Oder, you can combine this with an overnight stay in Frankfurt-Oder in our hotel near the train station. From there you can easily reach the venue.

“Contrasts” sounds like an exciting topic for a music event. One thinks of opposites and contradictions that are implemented in the music. Since the music festival in Frankfurt an der Oder is a cross-border cultural program, differences between nations are also part of the music. Every country not only has its own language, but also its own music.

The music of a country is often shaped by so-called folk music. Nevertheless, many European nations have a common musical basis and a similar understanding of culture. But it gets really exciting when musical influences from other cultures come along. As part of the music festival, the opening concert will be a violin concerto by Turkish composer Fazil Say. He will surprise the listeners with "1001 nights in the harem". South American sounds will also be heard: dance music by Argentinean composer Piazzolla will be played to mark his 95th birthday. This makes the "contrasts" in international music clear.

The Music Days are the most important music festival in eastern Brandenburg. Many guests are looking for accommodation in Frankfurt / Oder during this time in order to listen to this special music. Every year at the beginning of March, music-loving Frankfurters celebrate at this art experience. But not only the music plays a role: exchange and encounters between different nations are also part of it.

The festival – at that time still under the name “Frankfurter Festtage der Musik” – has had a permanent place in the city's cultural scene since 1966. Since 1994, the people of Frankfurt have been celebrating together with the Zielona Góra Philharmonic. So the European idea has been lived for a long time. The guests from the lively cultural city in western Poland are definitely doing their part.

East and West are growing together in music. Contrasts are overcome. If you want to be there, you can combine it with a stay at our hotel in Frankfurt-Oder. Cultural days full of music are guaranteed!
